Some of the statements are simply in error. To take just one obvious example: it is wrong to say that when the Gospel of Philip calls Mary Jesus’ “companion” that the Aramaic word means “spouse”. For one thing, the word that is used is not Aramaic. The Gospel of Philip is in Coptic. In other words, Aramaic has nothing to do with the saying. And to cap it all off, the Greek word that is used (koinónos) in fact means not “spouse” (or “lover”) but “companion” (it is commonly used of friends and associates).

Expertise counts

“Muise! nach deacair an t-oideachas a bhualadh!” mar adeireadh muintir Iorrais fadó.

Agus os ag caint ar Mháire agus Íosa atá muid, dearbhaíonn an saineolaí seo dúinn nach bhfuil bunús stairiúil, dá laghad, ag tacú le teoiric sin an údair, Dan Brown, go raibh an bheirt sin pósta ar a chéile, agus bheadh sin dona go leor mura raibh ann ach teoiric, ach dearbhaíonn an t-údar sin dúinn, nach é amháin go raibh siad pósta, ach go raibh, i ndáiríre, toradh ar an bpósadh céanna sin.

Agus ar chlúdach an leabhair, seo mar a chuireann an t-údar é :-

“How much truth is there in The Da Vinci Code?
