My name is Michael (Mick) Barrett, an Irishman who has lived in the US for many years. Although I was born in County Mayo, I grew up in Dublin and Kilkenny. I spend a lot of time in Ireland, and I enjoy attending Irish immersion courses every chance I get.

This site contains a collection of my opinion columns (and an English translation for the most recent ones). The column is available in Ireland each week in the newspaper 'The Kilkenny People'. My readers asked me to make the column available online if possible, and so I did just that! Enjoy!

Bhí an ról céanna (colúnaí seachtainiúil) ag m’athair (Peadar Bairéad) ar feadh 40 bliain, suas go dtí 2018, nuair a thosaigh mé ag cabhrú leis ar dtús, agus ansin ag scríobh na gcolún mé féin.

There are two archives on the site: my archive with all my columns, and my father's archive with 805 of his columns.
